Strauss and I got to watch history with the successful launch and landing of the 3 boosters of the Falcon Heavy multistage rocket 🚀. Previously the main booster that was meant to land on the drone ship has either landed in the ocean 🌊 or the most recent Falcon Heavy landed on the drone ship but unfortunately the swell was too much and the rocket fell over. But not last night, they all landed safe on Earth 🌏.
Easter Monday creating a new pair of mud guards with my father in law Paul Wright 🚜 for the Landcruiser. We removed the old broken guards and used them as the template to cut some new ones with a sheet of thick rubber and some tin snips✂️. We used both rivets and screws🔩🔧 to fix them in. Was great to do this together and save a $ too. #thankafarmerforyournextmeal

I was fortunate to be able to spend breakfast with my beautiful wife and then we took off to Glen Innes to pick up our son who has been spending some time with his Gran and Poppy doing farms jobs all week.

#FarrerPhysics exploring #StandingWaves 🚶♂️🌊. They look awesome in this Slo-Mo clip 📽⏯👍🏼. The boys did well to create the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th and even the 6th harmonic. Each harmonic frequency has 1 additional antinode (def; the position of maximum displacement from the baseline). This was a great follow up lesson after our lesson using the PhET "Waves on a String" simulator.

Capturing Sunlight ☀️➡️🗑! Yr.11 #FarrerPhysics students calculated the total energy output of the Sun using a Milo tin🗑, a thermometer 🌡, a stopwatch ⏱ and 1L of water 🌊. Using this very crude method we were only out by 13% 😀.
1. Put 1L of water in the Milo tin.
2. Leave outside for 5 minutes to come to ambient temperature.
3. Put in direct sunlight ensuring the surface of the water is perpendicular to the Sun.
4. Measure how long it takes to heat the water by a few degrees.
5. Calculate the total energy absorbed by the water using Q=mc🔼T
6. Divide the total energy absorbed by the time to find the energy absorbed per second (Watts). 7. Divide the energy in Watts by the surface area of the milo tin to find the energy per square meter.
